General Research

Interest has sparked in you about being an intern for Disney. What you need now is some information. I spent 3 years researching the program, which is definitely more than it actually takes, but I had the time, so i used it.

It is really important that you do some  research for this process. I spent hours doing this. Not everyone is going to have huge amounts of time to spare and that is fine. There were days where i only had an hour before i went to bed so i choose to use it wisely. Do what you can to be prepared and make an informed decision (my PSA for the day).

5 hour syndrome

I think Disney is against its future participants getting any sleep. If you have begun the process of applying for Disney you can probably relate to this picture.

There is something about applying to work for Disney that causes college students to not get much sleep. It's an excitement that completely overtakes your brain and you no longer have the ability to control the amount of questions that your brain produces. There is just no way to fathom all the possibilities.

Yet still we try. We research for hours trying to comprehend every facet of the DCP by reading and re-reading every published page on their website, and when that is not enough, we search for more. There are sooooooo many places where you can find information about the DCP online like Youtube, Facebook and former CP's blogs. It is pretty much impossible to get your actual school work done with all these resources around you.

I know its been hard for me. I will get started on an assignment, then just get an itch to take a break. So what consumes my break time you ask?

Hey I Can Dream Can't I?

All you Toy Story fans out there, that one was for you!

I think that quote explains a lot about why i applied to the Disney college program. I don't remember exactly how i heard about the program but i know it was back in High School. It sounded like something that would be really fun so i started looking into it.

After beginning college, i searched for ways to make that program fit into my schedule. At the time is seamed nearly impossible because my first two years i was declared a double major which meant that i had way more class requirements then most people. I could never justify taking an entire semester off to go work for Disney. That also had a lot to do with loosing scholarships and financial aid money. I didn't want to take any chances.
But the strange thing is that through all those years of not being able to do it, I still had the desire to make it happen one day. My dad thought it was just a phase that would pass but now he knows...(it never did).

Oh and what really solidified my desire was seeing the World of Color water show at Disney's California Adventures. When it was over I was like " why was i not a part of this? why was i not in that choir that sang the wonderful world of color so amazingly beautifully?" It literally made my vacation magical and i thought to myself I want to be a part of making others feel the way I did at Disney. I wanted to be a part of the magic.

Finding out that I could do the program post graduation was such an amazing turn of events. From that point on I decided that i would finish a semester early and head off to Disney!

So that was my road to application. It's been several years in the making, but totally worth every second. I encourage you, if working for Disney is part of your dream, keep dreaming. Because one day, "the dream that you wish, will come true!"
